Amazing Celebrity Homes

Whether you love them or hate them, celebrities certainly go to town when it comes to creating some stunning (although not necessarily subtle) homes. We take a look and show you how to steal a few of their ideas along the way.

Mariah Carey

Having recently put the house on the market, Mariah Carey’s West Coast home was originally on the market for $13 million. The three acre, seven bedroom, nine bathroom Colonial-style home features, amongst many other things, an ‘Aspen’ room that can play host to several hundred guests, views over LA, a cinema, basketball court, recording studio and gym. Other features to make you feel just a little jealous include a swimming pool, putting green and parking for more than 20 cars.

Interior décor is, as may be expected, more than a little luxurious, with oversized sofas and gilded coffee tables and console tables mixed in with more rustic timber side tables.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

At $20 million you might expect this house to impress — and it doesn’t disappoint. Measuring 16,000 square feet and with eight bedrooms, the house, which sits on a 3.5 acre estate, has its own vineyard, sports court and 1,050 square foot outdoor entertaining area. Of course there is a pool (two actually, one with a slide for baby North) and Jacuzzi, but these are lined with fountain streams and their pool house is bigger than most people’s homes.

The interior décor is predominantly white, with marble floors and with a sweeping white staircase and chandeliers greeting guests. There is also games room with suede walls, a gym, ‘screening room’ and bar.

Steal a bit of their contemporary, sleek style with glossy black and white coffee tables (take a look at the super-modern designs from Zespoke which can be customised with your own choice of colour combinations), marble flooring and include statement furniture such as unusual console tables in the entrance hall and plenty of white in the form of chaise longues and accessories.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Having bought it for a reported $60 million in 2012, Brad and Angelina’s 35-bedroom estate, Chateau Miraval – situated on a 1,000 acre estate in the south of France – is surrounded by a moat and has not one, but two spas, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and is surrounded by forest and vineyards. As any family home should, the house also has a home cinema and a dirt bike track — plus of course two helicopter pads.

Internally, the house apparently combines modern and traditional furniture. This is a great idea in traditional properties  —highlight the striking original features with on-trend pieces of furniture.

Petra Ecclestone

Possibly amongst the most outrageous of celebrity homes, Petra Ecclestone’s home recently went on the market for £88 million. It features a dog pampering salon, nightclub in the basement, bowling alley, swimming pools, tennis court and space for at least 100 cars. There is also a beauty salon with hairdressing ‘stations’. Petra describes her style as “very dark and kind of sexy, with a boudoir feel”. Recreate her look using exotic wood or wood effects and plenty of opulent finishes, such as marble and gold leaf.
