Unique Coffee Tables: the Art of Making a Statement

June 26th 2015

Subtle and laid back interiors are all well and good, but to ensure your home reflects your own personality as opposed to looking like something from a room set, a statement piece, such as an attention-grabbing extra large coffee table, is a must.

Stuck for Interior Design Ideas?

Not all of us have a natural flair for interior design and feel more within our comfort zone sticking to neutrals. Or maybe you are worried that a bright or wacky colour scheme could put buyers off when you come to sell, or are hoping to let your property out.
However, using even just one item of stand-out furniture as a statement piece can totally change the feel and look of a room. In terms of living room decoration, large coffee tables are a great way to make a statement.
But not any old coffee table will do – a bespoke coffee table really is the way to go, allowing you to specifiy size, colour, shape and finish.
And herein lies the solution for those too scared to use colour and pattern on their walls, but keen to inject some life and character into their interior scheme. In fact, sticking to a neutral colour scheme on the walls and floors will only serve to highlight the design credentials of any statement furniture you choose.
Once you have your unique coffee table it is likely that you will have found the focus on which to base the rest of your interior design ideas — perhaps using a strong colour featured in the table elsewhere in your living room, or mirroring a pattern from the coffee table within your curtain fabric or scatter cushions.

Unique Coffee Tables

Whether it is a dark wood coffee table or a white gloss coffee table you have your heart set on, make sure it has something that makes it stand out — a statement piece needs to be the focus of the room.
Whether you have a small living room or a large open plan layout, using an extra large coffee table in relation to the rest of the furniture in the room is an ideal way to create some wow.
But the size alone of a large coffee table is not always enough to make this piece shout “look at me!” This is where being able to customise your furniture to match your exact requirements comes in — a curvaceous, vintage or retro coffee table in a bold colour is unlikely to be missed.

Bespoke Coffee Tables

In order for a statement piece to be truly noticiable, it needs to be a one-off — an item that will draw attention for its utterly unique design.
Bespoke furniture used to be the reserve of those with big budgets, meaning everyone else had to make do with mass-produced and, lets be honest, pretty bland furniture. Happily all that has now changed.
Perhaps the best example of how bespoke furniture has moved on are Zespoke’s unique coffee tables. Each item of furniture they design can be customised  —choose from a mind-bloggling array of colours, finishes and patterns, choose your design, size and storage needs.
What you end up with will be a completely distinctive coffee table that not only demands attention and breathes life into your interiors, but also acts as a fixed point of focus to the room — turning even the safest of decorating schemes into something special.
Be sure to place your statement coffee table in a central position within your living room layout — at the centre of a cluster of neutral sofas and armchairs (greys and creams are ideal) will ensure all eyes are on your pride and joy.
